Turtle Club

May 29, 2011

Sunday night out in Clear Lake at Turtle Club. This place is amazing. An amazingly cheesy, country bar on the water (literally, floating on the water). And, as a bonus, it was karaoke night! I rocked "What's Up" by Four Non Blondes.

Gadgets Galore

May 28, 2011

I am in love with my Kindle. It is perfect for vacations, and I would not survive the gym without it. My new obsession is the Kindle app - I have it on both my iPad and android phone. I read the most recent book on all three devices. You can sync up to the most recent page read, and then continue on whichever device you have with you. Geeky, but awesome.

Foot

May 24, 2011

Unexciting days back in the real world. Still jetlagged and missing those waves!

Grrrrr...

May 23, 2011

There are many upsetting things about this picture. First, how annoying is it when these things pop up?! I probably clicked "Restart Later" ten times before I got sick of it and finally restarted. And secondly, I'm looking at a picture of Hanalei Bay on my computer background, which means I'm not actually sitting on the beach there.

Last Glass

May 22, 2011

Major jetlag, but we made it home. My last drink on vacation... :(

Pearl Harbor

May 21, 2011

Our long layover in Honolulu allowed us to visit Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach before heading home. The memorial to the USS Arizona is situated directly over the sunken ship. You can still see oil seeping from the wreckage. Quite moving, and our visit to the nearby museum painted the whole picture.

Tahiti Nui

May 20, 2011

Our last night out at our favorite bar, Tahiti Nui. Chelsa danced with the same guy she danced with two years ago when we took this same trip. He had some moves!

SCUBA

May 19, 2011

James and I got up at 4:15AM to drive to the south side of the island for our SCUBA trip off the coast of Niihau. Niihau is known as the Forbidden Island. It is privately owned, and tourists are not allowed to visit. It took us 1.5 hours by boat to get there, then we had a three-tank dive. It was some of the best diving I've done.

Napali Coast

May 18, 2011

The whole group went on a boat tour of the Napali Coast, which was breathtaking.

Our rental house in Kauai, under a full moon!

Church Mountain

May 16, 2011

Towering green mountains (some with waterfalls) make a gorgeous backdrop for the town of Hanalei.

Hanalei Bay

May 15, 2011

I took advantage of waking up at 5:30AM to walk down the beach from our rental house and get some pictures of the pier just as the sun was hitting the bay. Most beautiful place on Earth.

Magnum P.I.

May 14, 2011

We made it to Hanalei! A group of 10 friends rented a house on Hanalei Bay on Kauai. First order of business: Mai Tais at Tahiti Nui. Mike thought he'd get into the spirit of things by growing a mustache and wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Yeah, he blends.

Packing

May 13, 2011

I love the luggage tag my Mother-in-Law gave me for Christmas. I spent all evening packing. Hanalei Bay here we come!

Dog Tag

May 12, 2011

Our bartender friend has a brother who is in the Marine Special Forces, and she keeps his dog tag around her neck. I remember during the Gulf War, we'd host troops at our house for holidays. It was the cooooolest if they gave us one of their dog tags to remember them by.

I feel like a high percentage of my pictures have been taken in Asian restaurants.
