Sunday night out in Clear Lake at Turtle Club. This place is amazing. An amazingly cheesy, country bar on the water (literally, floating on the water). And, as a bonus, it was karaoke night! I rocked "What's Up" by Four Non Blondes.

I am in love with my Kindle. It is perfect for vacations, and I would not survive the gym without it. My new obsession is the Kindle app - I have it on both my iPad and android phone. I read the most recent book on all three devices. You can sync up to the most recent page read, and then continue on whichever device you have with you. Geeky, but awesome.

There are many upsetting things about this picture. First, how annoying is it when these things pop up?! I probably clicked "Restart Later" ten times before I got sick of it and finally restarted. And secondly, I'm looking at a picture of Hanalei Bay on my computer background, which means I'm not actually sitting on the beach there.

Our long layover in Honolulu allowed us to visit Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach before heading home. The memorial to the USS Arizona is situated directly over the sunken ship. You can still see oil seeping from the wreckage. Quite moving, and our visit to the nearby museum painted the whole picture.

James and I got up at 4:15AM to drive to the south side of the island for our SCUBA trip off the coast of Niihau. Niihau is known as the Forbidden Island. It is privately owned, and tourists are not allowed to visit. It took us 1.5 hours by boat to get there, then we had a three-tank dive. It was some of the best diving I've done.

We made it to Hanalei! A group of 10 friends rented a house on Hanalei Bay on Kauai. First order of business: Mai Tais at Tahiti Nui. Mike thought he'd get into the spirit of things by growing a mustache and wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Yeah, he blends.

Our bartender friend has a brother who is in the Marine Special Forces, and she keeps his dog tag around her neck. I remember during the Gulf War, we'd host troops at our house for holidays. It was the cooooolest if they gave us one of their dog tags to remember them by.

I don't know who knows this about me, but I am a total musical theater geek. So when I heard that they were showing a taping of the live Broadway production of Memphis at select movie theaters across the USA, I was ecstatic. I dragged James with me, getting there early in case there was a line to get into the theater. Turns out the people excited about it were me, and a handful of old folks who were bussed in from a retirement home. I don't care, it was fantastic. The story was amazing, and the music was even better. If you get a chance to see this on Broadway, do. I bet this taping comes out on DVD eventually, and if you're as geeky as me you'll buy it. Anyway, this is a really bad non-flash pic of intermission.

My friends Elizabeth and Taylor are about to leave us to move to Fort Worth :(. We had a going away dinner in their honor at Ibiza. James so politely reminded our waiter that the chef lost on Iron Chef by ONE POINT. It was a lovely, long dinner with friends. We ordered a table full of desserts, and they also brought out their customary giant martini glass of cotton candy, topped with a sparkler. I single handedly ate almost the entire glob of cotton candy, and didn't touch the desserts.
